Fish Traveler Guide Service, Eagle Lake Fishing Report for Sunday, October 17, 2010

Howdy Folks,
The weather has still been a factor up here at Eagle Lake. Early in the week it was too nice. We need night time temperatures in the low 30's to get the trout on the bite in the morning hours. Last Sunday and Monday, October 10 and 11, the air temperatures were 45 and 48 respectively, at 6:00 A.M. when we launched. The fishing was extremely slow both days. Wednesday, October 12 the temperatures dropped and the fishing began to pick up.

The best bite is still early. We have caught limits for the boat since Thursday, 10-14 with the most solid bite from 6:45-9:00 A.M.

Trolling:
The best trolling areas include the Youth Camp shoreline and between Wildcat Point and Pelican Point on the west side. We are also catching fish near the mouth of the opening to the north basin. Best baits have been watermelon and pumpkin seed grubs. We are trolling them 4-6 feet deep in 6-12 feet of water. There are definitely bigger fish mixed in with our average 2.5lb Eagle Lake Trout. Our biggest fish this week was 3lbs, 9oz taken at 5 feet deep on a grub.

Bobber Fishing:
Bobber fishing is good off the Youth Camp shoreline and along the west side from Pelican Point down to Shrimp Island. The fish are close to shore so anchor up in water 10-15 feet deep and fish threaded night crawlers under a slip bobber at 5-8 feet deep. And, do it early.

Launching:
Launching is no problem at the Spalding Launch facility.
