Fish Traveler Guide Service, Eagle Lake Fishing Report for Suday, Jun 13, 2010

Howdy Folks,
I reported last week that fishing at Eagle Lake was very good. Move that up a notch. It was pretty close to outstanding this past week. Even with two days of pretty tough winds, Thursday and Friday, the Eagle Lake Trout bite didn't turn off or even slow down much.

The surface water temperature warmed to 56-57 degrees this week. The trout moved closer to shore in greater numbers and the first light to 8:00 A.M bite really got going.

Trolling:
I am still fishing the west side of the lake from Slough Pt. down to Wildcat Pt in water 8-20 ft. deep. Previous to this week, I had been "looking around" in shallow water to see if the the fish have moved in yet. We had been catching about half our fish in "tight" and half out in deeper water later in the morning. This week there was no need to move out of the shallow water as the fish moved in and stayed in until late morning.

We were successful this week trolling our baits 150 feet behind the boat from the surface down to 8 feet deep. Our most consistent bait was a Sep's #2 Watermelon Grub. (If you are fishing out of your own boat, bring your own watermelon grubs because they sell out fast up here.) The size of the fish also improved a little this week. We had several fish that were 19-20 inches and three lbs plus. As they have been since the opener two weeks ago, the Eagle Lake Trout being checked in are healthy, bright silver and fat.

Bobber Fishing:
Nothing to report. Trolling is very good and most folks are taking advantage of it at this time.

Launching:
Lauching is no problem at the Salding Lauch facility.
